Host Organization: Japanese American Service Committee In this session, learn how a joint Japanese American Service Committee/Chicago Japanese American Historical Society project used oral histories to form the backbone of "Uprooted" and "Reckoning," two interactive web experiences that teach Japanese American history at a secondary school level and through a distinctly midwestern lens. Project lead and former WBEZ producer Katherine Nagasawa will demonstrate the two web experiences and discuss the process of moving from raw oral history interviews to engaging, multimedia educational tools.

This show will feature 15 new pieces by Vyas, as well as an intimate “fireside chat” where she will share her journey as an artist and discuss her work in depth.

Host Organization: Balzekas Museum of Lithuanian Culture Kryžių kalnas (“Hill of Crosses”) located in the Šiauliai county of Lithuania, is a popular destination for local and visiting Lithuanians, tourists, and Christian pilgrims. The meaning of this place has changed significantly since its mysterious beginnings, becoming a place of peaceful protest against Soviet occupation in the mid-1950s, to gaining worldwide attention after Lithuania’s restored independence in 1990.
